The weather has been stellar these last two days.  Morning fog burns off quickly to hot sunny days here.  Near the equator the sun can crisp you in a very short time. 







Hang time

The last two days we’ve spotted poles, set five new poles, ran five span of new conductors, installed approximately 15 new services, energized the new circuit, and removed half of the old conductors.

The electricians worked in the hospital fixing a centrifuge. They worked hard to fix a clothes dryer that has been broken for 6 yrs, but it needs a miracle.   They installed a relay control on a pole that limits the number of homes coming back on line after the power has been off.  All the men are working so hard, pouring their heart into the work, and so are the women.

Preparing meals for 17 to 20 people in a foreign country is challenging and takes more than twice as long as in your home.  Just lighting the oven or burners on the stove when the power is out can be overwhelming.  We have an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, but all must be soaked about 20 minutes in a bleach water solution before we eat them.  Our drinking water is processed through a tall stainless steel filtering can which purifies and removes sediment and must be constantly monitored to keep up with demand.  Linda and Deb do incredible things in the kitchen providing hearty meals that help sustain our team at the pace we’ve settled into.  It’s become a crazy choreographed dance that we enjoy around the kitchen.

Every day in the Barnabas House Carol sweeps the floors of the 6 bedrooms, kitchen, front porch, and sitting area, cleans the sinks and toilets in both bathrooms, shakes out the rugs and on top of all that, she hangs out, brings in, and folds mounds of laundry, AND washes piles of dishes, sets the tables, helps with food prep… well you get the picture.  She is amazing.  We all try to pitch in to do whatever we see needs doing to keep up with the men.
